Carefree, sometimes described as part cowboy, part resort, is a small, upscale town bordering Cave Creek. Carefree is home to many affluent retirees, including some famous actors and artists such as Dick van Dyke and Frederick J. Brown. Buying a home in Care Free ensures a relaxed, small town, but upscale Western experience.

Carefree is unique; it was originally intended to be a master planned community, not a town in and of itself. In the 80’s it nearly became a part of Scottsdale. As such, it’s almost all residential, and doesn’t really have neighborhoods in the traditional sense. Most of the shopping is done in nearby Cave Creek, and most residents put their kids in Cave Creek or Scottsdale school districts – which isn’t a problem, since both are nationally ranked and widely considered some of the best in the country.

Two well known and highly regarding restaurants in Carefree are Keeler’s Neighborhood Steakhouse, known for, you guessed it, amazing steaks! Black mountain Café covers breakfast and does so with style.
